nts london pabx range

the london pabx range was an early entry into the deregulated uk telecommunications market place

made by national telephone systems [nts], the range was highly popular offering pabx systems of up to 128 ports

eventually, nts was bought out by alcatel who ultimately ceased the range

sjg installed and maintained many, many london switches throughout the uk; the switch now has been ruled obsolete

any existing londons are usually to be found in hotels as they used mpd for call billing

london 32

the london 32 was the most successful of the range with a typical maximum size of 8 lines & 24 extensions

the switch had a dedicated operator console - later versions had a screen based console

their age makes them prone to sudden psu failure, especially after a power cut. mother boards and the cpu card are subject to deteriorating ability which, prior to failure, is indicated by poor ringing at telephones. even a temporary power interruption can wipe the memory of the switch so: connect a suitable printer to the v24 and take a back up of the switch programming by dialling 1951 at the console

version I 32s & 64s are at risk of fire after psu replacement: only task this type of work to an engineer who can prove he has extensive expertise on londons. never allow a mcfaddian psu to be fitted in a type I london

 approach with caution
