IP ROUTING

the icp 3300 will forward packets between different networks - local or remote. It also ensures that adequate quality of service is provided for those packets requiring higher priority processing. Packet filters will be used for security. RIP v1/v2 and Trigger RIP will be used for dynamic routing; static routing is also supported.

The DHCP server functionality may be used to assign IP addresses to other IP devices on the locally attached networks and may be turned off if the icp 3300 is integrated into an existing LAN with a DHCP server.

The DHCP client may be used to obtain an IP address to use as its host IP on a connected network; DHCP client relay is also supported.

NAT may be used on remotely attached networks.

Remote WAN locations will be supported via leased line services, xDSL, frame relay or dial-up PPP connections. The 3300 ICP router is capable of supporting up to 5 interfaces simultaneously.

X.25 support will be available for POS (point-of-sale) type of connections.

Links using PPP may be compressed using STAC compression algorithms if configured and negotiated.

ETHERNET SWITCH

the icp 3300 controller uses a high performance Layer 2 Ethernet switch chip set. The switch is dual-speed, able to connect to 10Mbit/s or 100Mbit/s devices.

attributes of the switch include:

Auto-sensing - port speed can be 10Mbps or 100Mbps.

Auto-negotiation (802.3u).

half or full duplex mode (half-duplex operation is such that transmission and reception of data doesn’t occur simultaneously, full-duplex allows for simultaneous transmitting & receiving of data, this doubles the aggregate bandwidth of a 8-port switch from 800Mbps to 1.6 Gbps).

QoS/priority mechanisms supported are source port, MAC address, IEEE 802.1p, VLAN and TOS-field/Diff Serv.

the expansion unit is fully integrated with the 8 port switch in the controller through a high-speed packet bus

TONE PLANS

the 3300 supports UK & European tone plans

QoS

the icp 3300 supports IEEE 802.1p.

DiffServ (Differential Services) will be supported via the TOS field in the IP header

IP PHONE POWERING

IP Phones are powered from the Ethernet ports therefore providing simple installation and enabling a single wire feed to the desktop

SECURITY & ENCRYPTION

password protection is provided for all system management capabilities

the icp 3300 has customisable IP Packet Filtering & Network Address Translation (NAT). Multiple filters on each interface can be applied to individual or ranges of source addresses, destination addresses, source or destination ports, or protocols. Filters can be applied to inbound or outbound packets. It can be set up to only allow certain types of remote accesses to be allowed from trusted sites. NAT should replace the TCP/IP stack on the PPP adapter with its own IP stack, which protects the computers on the LAN

PC BROWSER BASED MANAGEMENT TOOLS

the icp 3300 has easy-to-use management tools, which can be used on-site or remotely. All management tools are browser-based and require Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or Netscape 4.7. The tool is optimised for Microsoft Windows.

On site access is via connection to the LAN with a laptop or PC via either a LAN drop, the Ethernet port on the back of a Superset, or directly to an Ethernet port on the icp 3300 controller / expansion unit. Remote access can be gained by dialling in through an analogue or digital trunk (using the V.90 modem) or, if the ICP has a static IP address associated with xDSL service, access can be gained through the internet.

Access to the tools is password controlled . The highest level has access to all the tools below it: Level 1 (highest ) System Administration Tool; Level 2 Quick Configuration Tool; Level 3 Administrator Tool; Level 4 (lowest ) Desktop Tool

Instead of having to deal with the hassle of programming the icp 3300 yourself - with all that that entails, use 's remote programming services

IP PHONE MANAGEMENT TOOLS

many management & configuration controls of the features can be done through an IP Phone. Desktop users can program the keys on their phones, their personal phonebook allocation using the Superkey and the key pad. System voice mail features, auto attendant features, and individual mailbox features can be programmed through a telephone user interface. IP Phones can be designated as an Admin terminal, allowing system  changes via the key pad & feature keys. IP Phones can also be designated as a System terminal, allowing more advance programming.

ADMINISTRATION TOOL

Designed for use by untrained users, this tool allows easy system changes. The system manager can add new extensions, modify extensions, alter parameters and manage the phonebook. This tool also provides the local administrator with voice mail and auto attendant management. The tool is GUI based and designed to be highly intuitive, with default settings automatically filled in.

DESKTOP USER TOOL

easily used to program keys (features & speed-dial) on the IP phone and to set personal phonebook

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION TOOL

This tool provides the ability to administer, configure, backup, restore & diagnose the system. It is menu and form driven with the menu set up by tasks. It can also be used to download software upgrades and pre-programmed configured databases.

QUICK CONFIGURATION TOOL

a one time use tool, it is designed to get the ICP up & running at initial installation speedily. Default configurations can be chosen and a pre-programmed database easily loaded. The tool is GUI based and takes the user through a logical series of questions which, when completed, will configure the system to either system defaults, or system settings chosen in the Quick Configuration process.

Voice and Data Networking

the icp 3300 will support advanced voice & data networking over existing public or private network digital trunks as well as over emerging broadband IP trunk facilities and services the icp 3300 will support voice networking with Mitel Networks’ Ipera 2000 IPBX & SX-2000

for data networking, icp 3300 incorporates a full suite of IP edge router features over both traditional digital facilities (i.e. ISDN, Leased Lines) and broadband IP access connections such as DSL and cable.

The IP data networking feature suite will include:

DHCP Server (client & relay)

Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet for xDSL modems

PPP over dialup Modem links

Multi-Link PPP

RIP1 (Routing Information Protocol 1) and RIP2

Trigger RIP

NAT (Network Address Translation)

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol server)

Local DNS (Domain Name Server)

IP filtering

IP PHONES

the icp 3300 will support a comprehensive range of IP Phones. Release 1 & 2 will support the 5010, the 5020, dual port IP Phones and an IP Softphone (for use with a PC). The 5010 and 5020 IP Phones have an internet 10/100Mbit switch to a RJ45 jack at the back for the PC connection. The dual ports allow for a single LAN wire to the desktop. A PC plugged into the second port of the IP Phone gets up to 100M of bandwidth (<1% for voice) and the voice quality is guaranteed under any data loading.
