The Sailor TV Series

 

  In 1976 the BBC filmed the famous, or infamous, fly on the wall documentary series Sailor

With Rod Stewart providing the theme, the series was enormously popular and now - on DVD - is a historical record of the now scrapped goliath.

Not having aired, even on channels such as Discovery, it can only be seen on DVD.

The DVD, interestingly, forgoes Stewart's rendition of Sailing in favour of the far superior Royal Marines version.

A bonus on the DVD is the inclusion of a BBC follow-up programme Sailor: 8 Years On where the Fleet Joss looks at what's left of the ship at the scrap yard and key guys from the series are chased up
